English beans, sausage, egg, black pudding, Irish bacon, and toast makes for a pretty filling breakfast, so I highly recommend doing this on a day that you don’t have to be running around immediately after. As the staple food for most of the island’s population, mass starvation, and disease killed over a million Irish and forced another million to emigrate. These statues can be found in a few places around the city of Dublin honoring the suffering of the Irish during this tragedy. Throughout the building are beautiful patterns and carvings – on the ceiling, on the walls, along the pillars – really just about everywhere. Visiting Derry-Londonderry was an amazing way to conclude my time on the island of Ireland. Photo credit: Morrill, 2019
