This is a recording made by my friend and I of a reading we did in Fusha class (Arabic 202). We definitely struggled through it, but I think it’s a good example of how difficult and fast-paced courses are at AMIDEAST, and it shows a lot of advancement in comparison to our language level at the beginning of the program! For those who haven’t studied Al-Kitaab this far (or couldn’t understand our pronunciation), this was a fun passage of dialogue between a wife (read by my friend) and a husband (read by me) who is upset over their limited time spent in each other’s company. He goes through his daily schedule, detailing and doing the calculations of the time they’ve actually spent together and ultimately concludes that in their 25 years of marriage, the two have in fact only spent about 3 years together. Not only this, but they begin to contemplate whether the time they’ve spent together has even been happy. By the end, it’s pretty clear that the love in the marriage is dead. Enjoy!
