From Mountains to Deserts in Jordan

From Mountains to Deserts in Jordan

During our semester programs in Jordan, students go on a number of excursions that go beyond sightseeing, but allow them to get a better understanding of the history, culture, and geography of the country. Jordan offers myriad different landscapes, historical periods, and experiences that will stick with our students and some of these locations become the most memorable part of their experience!

Some of the highlights this semester are the visit to Jerash (a Roman Decapolis city), Wadi Rum (a protected desert wilderness), Petra (the famed ruins of a Nabatean city), Mount Nebo (the place where Moses supposedly saw the Promised Land), and the Baptism Site (where Jesus was supposedly baptized).

Spring 2018 students pose in the ruins of the Temple of Zeus at Jerash, one of the Roman Decapolis cities, during their Northern Excursion.

Spring 2018 students hike up one of the dunes to get ready to watch the breathtaking sunset in Wadi Rum during their Southern Excursion.

Spring 2018 students walk down the Siq to the Treasury at Petra during their Southern Excursion.

Spring 2018 students enjoy the view from Mount Nebo, where on a clear day, you can see the Jordan Valley and Jerusalem.

Spring 2018 students gather around the tour guide to hear about the place of Jesus' baptism.
