Welcoming Our Newest AMIDEAST Interns: Chyanne Vanzant
Chyanne Vanzant was born and raised in the greater Los Angeles area in southern California. She is a senior at Waynesburg University in southwestern Pennsylvania studying International Business with a minor in Political Science. During her summers, she interns with an organization in Camden, New Jersey called UrbanPromise, which is a nonprofit organization that dedicates itself to caring for the inner-city youth in the Camden area through urban youth ministry.
In the near future, Chyanne plans to use her degree and experience to pursue a career in diplomacy and embassy work. She is heavily interested in learning about other cultures and seeing the various business customs of different countries. During her time at AMIDEAST, Chyanne’s overall goal is to leave with a clear understanding of the different cultures that the EdAbroad department serves. She also hopes that from this experience she gains all the right tools and knowledge to hopefully visit and work within the Middle East and North Africa one day.
At Waynesburg University, Chyanne participates in various activities outside of classes. She was an integral part of restarting her school’s Black Student Union and helps out in multiple campus offices. She is a student ambassador of Waynesburg’s admissions team and is also an assistant in the schools’ Entrepreneurial and Innovative Leadership office. With her spare time, she enjoys going to work at the local Verizon store near the university.
Chyanne enjoys painting, cooking for large groups, spending time at the beach, watching sports, and volunteering within the church through praise and worship. She also loves to read up on current issues and have friendly debates with her peers about the political climate of the world.
Chyanne is spending her second to last semester of her undergraduate degree interning with AMIDEAST in their Educational Abroad department.
