"Learning Arabic Without Abroad" by Ivana Jarjura

Hello, I am Ivana Jarjura! I am a junior at Binghamton University majoring in Economics and English, with a minor in Global Studies. Through my minor, I was able to learn more about the Arab world and what makes it unique. After a year of general research, I decided to do my capstone project on Dubai. I fell in love with the city through this project and made it my goal to come here for my semester abroad. Since my home school did not have a program for Dubai, I began to look online to see if there were other options for me. I was soon able to find Amideast. With their help, I have been able to have the best four months of my life. The experiences I have had here have been so amazing and I hope to come back to this city one day! The most memorable thing for me with this program has been practicing and enhancing my Arabic skills. Through this blog post, you will see how my friends and I have been able to better our Arabic by immersing ourselves within the multicultural world of Dubai.
