As a woman growing up in an unsafe country, I was always scared of living life to the fullest because I constantly lived in fear of something bad happening. When I moved to Dubai as a study abroad student, it was a challenge and a journey I was prepared for, but I didn't expect it to change me this much. I transformed into a new person. Finally, I was able to experience a life where I felt safe and closer to my heritage and religion than ever before. I confronted my fear by taking the leap off the world's longest zipline. I was shocked, but it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. Being so high in the sky granted me the freedom I had always dreamed of.

Ras al Khaimah was home to the UAE's tallest peaks, 64 kilometers of coastline and a sedate pace of life to escape Dubai's towering cityscape. This rich history dating back to the Bronze Age makes Ras Al Khaimah one of the few places in the world, I’ve seen, that holds the beauty of mountains. Photo credit: Sultana, 2023.

Went on a trip to the desert to experience the life of those who are local to this culture. It was an experience that makes you realize how big and beautiful this life is because I have always felt secluded from the beauty of this world living in a bubble in New York. Getting to ride on the camel was something out of a fairytale. Photo credit: Sultana, 2023.

Watching the sunset in the desert with some friends I met. The best part of any trip are the people that you meet. I met some of my closest friends in life on this trip. Photo credit: Sultana, 2023.

A trip to the old Dubai

When you sometimes crave the old historical parts of Dubai, there is no need to scroll through history books to hear the history because, Dubai has a neighborhood where you feel you have escaped the chaotic city life and gone back a hundred years earlier.

You learn the true beauty of life when you fully put yourself out there and take the risk which is why the trip made me enjoy life when being in the comfort of my own joy of living life to the fullest. Photo credit: Sultana, 2023.
