"A Visit to the National Museum of Jewelry and Adornment" by Molly Janicki
This past weekend, my roommate and I took a visit to the National Museum of Jewelry and Adornment in Rabat. The museum is within the Andalusian Garden’s in the Rabat Kasbah.
While the museum itself was rather small, the exhibits on display were beautiful, historical, and fascinating. Rural as well as urban jewelry, adornments, and clothing were displayed in the very house that the 17th century Moroccan prince resided in. There was an atrium in the center of the establishment with benches for the museum goers to sit and enjoy the peaceful environment and admire the beautiful tile and word work.
There was another section of the museum in the garden that had an exhibit of Moroccan caftans, the traditional dress that women wear.
After our visit to the museum, we went to the cafe right outside of the gardens that overlooks the Rabat-Sale river. It was a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
