"When a 3 Person Turns Into a 14 Person Trip to Wadi Mujib" by Veronica Tis
About two weeks after arriving in Jordan, our entire cohort, along with three other students from a separate study-abroad program in Jordan decided to brave the adrenaline-rushing canyon hike through the waters of Wadi Mujib. While Amideast plans many amazing excursions such as trips to Petra and Wadi Rum, a trip to Wadi Mujib was something that my colleagues and I decided to do on our own. What turned out to be a much-needed break from the city and classes started as an idea I had while reading my Lonely Planet Jordan guidebook. I started to mention the idea to one, two, then 10 people, until eventually 14 people were interested in going. With the help of a staff member, we hired a bus that would stay with us all day while we explored this hidden treasure located at the lowest point on earth. From pulling each other up over rushing water, to laughing together over bruised legs and sore arms after the trip, our hike in Wadi Mujib was undoubtedly an incredible bonding experience that has made me even more excited for the rest of my time in Jordan.
