"Molly in Morocco!" by Molly Janicki
Marhaba! Hello!
My name is Molly Janicki and I will be studying here in Rabat, Morocco for the next semester! I am a junior at American University and studying International Relations with a concentration on the MENA region so I am so excited to be spending some time here.
I will be working on my Arabic skills which definitely need some language immersion to be improved on. I am ecstatic to finally be able to practice my Arabic abilities outside of DC and the classroom. Hopefully, over the semester I will gain both more proficiency and confidence in my speaking.
I also hope to explore the Maghreb, meet new people, and try different but delicious foods! It’s only been a week so far in Morocco but I can already tell that I have found a new home, both in the area and in the people. This will be my first time living abroad and it has definitely required some adjustments. From being more careful when crossing the road to eating three loaves of bread a day, I can’t wait to see how the rest of time in Morocco will go!
Molly Janicki is a student at American University and is studying abroad on the Amideast Area and Arabic Studies Program in Rabat, Morocco this spring 2024.
