My language partner put me on to this one by local Tunisian rapper Katybon soon after I arrived in Tunis. Cool boombap style instrumental and I like his voice.

Ma partenaire de langue m’a montré cette chanson peu après mon arrivée du rappeur local Tunisien known as Katybon. Le style "boom-bap" de son musique est cool et j’aime sa voix.

Didi - Khaled

This song is by Khaled, an Algerian artist known as the king of rai. I heard it everywhere the first couple weeks I was here and had to shazam it! I love the percussion especially and the hook is super catchy.

Cette chanson est écrite par Khaled, un artiste Algerien connu comme le roi du rai. Je l’ai écoutée partout en arrivant ici et j’ai dû la shazamer! J’aime surtout la batterie et le hook est très entrainante.

I heard the next three songs in the cab on a Saturday evening on the way to meet up with some friends.

J’ai écouté les trois prochaines chansons dans le taxi un samedi soir en allant voir des amis.

Great vibes on this reggaeton inspired banger by Tunisian rapper Nordo.

Ech Mazel - RedStar ft. Jenjoon

Tunis based artists RedStar and Jenjoon link up on this one. Some of my favorite flows I’ve heard in Arabic and the music video has some great shots of the city.

Les deux artistes basés à Tunis, RedStar et Jenjoon, font équipe dans cette chanson. Il a quelques-unes de mes paroles arabes préférées et la vidéo montre de belles vues de la ville.

Samara freestyle 3 en 1 - Samara

Tunisian rap group Samara performed this freestyle for Rap Heure. It’s pretty long, but worth a listen. My favorite part comes at about 5 minutes in.

Le groupe de rap tunisien Samara a fait ce freestyle pour Rap Heure. C’est assez long, mais ça vaut la peine d’être écouté. Ma partie préférée vient à environ cinq minutes du début.

I shazamed this song from Egyptian/Palestinian singer Laoi while riding the Taxi Jama3i back to the apartment one day.

J’ai trouvé cette chanson du chanteur égyptien / palestinien nommé Laoi sur Shazam en prenant le taxi Jama3i à l’appartement un après-midi.

Fady Shewaya - Hamza Namira

Another Egyptian on this track, Hamza Namira, mixes lots of genres in his music and I just love the melody he’s got going on here. I can’t remember where I heard this, but probably in the cab.

Un autre artiste égyptien, Hamza Namira, mélange plusieurs genres dans sa musique et j’adore la mélodie des paroles de cette chanson. Je ne me souviens pas où j’ai entendu cette chanson, mais probablement dans le taxi.

Lik - Oum

I first heard this nice one from Oum on the porch at work one morning. She comes from Morocco and has a fantastic voice. I also love the percussion in the instrumental.

J’ai écouté cette belle chanson d’Oum pour la première fois sur le porche au travail un matin. Elle vient du Maroc et a une grande voix. J’aime aussi la batterie.

Mon soleil - Dadju ft. Anitta

This song actually came up as a YouTube ad, but I watched the whole video and immediately added it to my library. Dadju hails from a suburb of Paris and sings in French, while Anitta is Brazilian and sings her part in Spanish. The music video is also fire.

Cette chanson est apparue dans une publicité YouTube, mais j’ai regardé toute la vidéo et je l’ai ajoutée à ma bibliothèque immédiatement. Dadju est originaire d’une banlieue de Paris et il chante en français. Anitta est brésilienne et chante sa portion en espagnol. La vidéo est aussi très jolie.

Parfum de gitane - Anouar Brahem Trio

My professor in CBL at Amideast showed me this song a few weeks ago. It features some amazing oud playing by Anouar Brahem and is definitely worth a listen!

Ma prof du cours CBL avec Amideast m’a montré cette chanson il y a quelques semaines. C’est Anouar Brahem qui joue très bien à l'oud et il faut l'écouter!
