"Ramadan Beverages in Jordan" by Myrna Altall
Amar al-Din (قمرالدين)
Amar al-Din, or Kamar al-Din, is a popular iftar drink as it is known to aid digestion, regulate metabolism as well as contain healthy properties such as vitamins and minerals. Its main ingredient is dried apricot or apricot paste.
Kharoub (خروب)
Kharoub is a traditional refreshing, nutrient-rich and tasty Ramadan beverage. Kharoub, is essential for Ramadan fasting as it is high in fiber, protein, and antioxidants. It has a thick consistency but it is tasty and nutritious.
Karkadeh (الكركديه)
Made with loose dried hibiscus flowers, refreshing hot or cold, we drink this tea rather sweet to break our fasting during the month of Ramadan.
Tamarind or Tamer Hindi (التمرالهندي)
This date juice has a sour taste due to the tamarind fruit, so it is then sweetened with sugar, and served cold.
Ark Sous (العرقسوس)
This licorice drink is served cold. Ark sous is put in special traditional cups made of copper or glass to keep it chilled.
Vimto
For some reason we only end up craving this juice in Ramadan!
